Zanaco Football Club head coach Mumamba Numba has confirmed that midfielder Boyd Musonda and goalkeeper Mangani Banda will not be available for the Caf Champions League first round, first leg match away to Young Africans (Yanga) of Tanzania this weekend.
Musonda and Banda are part of the Zambian U-20 men's national football squad which will face South Africa in first semi-final of the 2017 Total U-20 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday.
Numba told fazfootball.com that the duo would not be travelling to Tanzania as they were on national duty adding that Zanaco had been bolstered by the late registration three players - Zimbabwean rightback Zimiseleni Moyo, Tanzanian winger Reuben Lyanga and Boyd Mwangelwa - who were not available during the preliminary round.
“We have players available who were not available in the first round especially that we have U-20 players Musonda, Mangani Banda and Sakala who will not be part of us,” Numba said.
“It has added to depth. After we requested for Boyd and Mangani to join us, the Football Association of Zambia (Faz) communicated that the players would not be released because they have an important assignment."
Zanaco qualified to the first round after defeating APR of Rwanda 1-0 over two legs thanks to Taonga Bwembya's strike from a free kick scored in the second leg played at the Amahoro Stadium on 18 February.
