Zanaco football club has confirmed that it will play all its matches at the National Heroes Stadium after an agreement was reached with the stadium management this week.
Club Chairman Edward Mutale told supersport.com on Wednesday that the signing of the agreement prompted the change of venue for this weekend’s league fixture with Red Arrows.
“I can confirm that we have signed a one year agreement for use of National Heroes Stadium. This agreement has been a long drawn process between ourselves and the National Heroes Stadium management. We started negotiating for use of the stadium some time last year. That is why we were able to host the match between Zanaco and Nkana there,” said Mutale.
“All our matches will now be played at the National Heroes Stadium and as required by club licensing Sunset Stadium will be used as our training ground. We took into account the sitting capacity at Sunset Stadium and that most of our fans watched our matches whilst standing.”
Sunset Stadium was scheduled to host a double header on Saturday with City of Lusaka hosting Green Eagles in the first match, and Zanaco playing Red Arrows in the second match but an updated fixture list released on Wednesday by the Football Association of Zambia (Faz) indicated that the matches had been shifted to the National Heroes Stadium.
The match between City of Lusaka and Green Eagles will kick off at 13h00 while the Zanaco – Red Arrows match will start at 15h00.
Both matches will be broadcast live on Super Sport Select.
