Zesco United coach Zlatko Krmpotic says Enugu Rangers’ poor run of results could motivate them to play better against Zambian opposition in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.
Speaking before departure for Nigeria on Wednesday afternoon, Krmpotic bemoaned the absence of four key players ahead of the Enugu Rangers assignment.
Enugu Rangers sit at the bottom of the table in the Nigerian Football League and were also eliminated from the 2017 CAF Champions League group stage in March by Zamalek of Egypt.
They have only managed 13 points from 14 games with only three wins, four draws and seven losses.
“Enugu Rangers is at the bottom of the Nigerian league, but maybe this is a chance for them to go up with the motivation. We must be careful in this game,” Krmpotic.
Zesco will be without the injured trio of Jackson Mwanza, Simon Silwimba, Mischeck Chaila and also Idriss Mbombo who is suspended for the pre-Group Stage tie.
The team left for Nigeria at 15:30 hours aboard Ethiopian Airways from Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola.
The game will be played on Sunday, 9th April at Nnandi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu at 16 hours local time (15h00 CAT).
