World Cup bound Zambia U20 regroup

The Zambia Under-20 national team regroups today in Lusaka to commence the final leg of their preparations for the Fifa U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017.

Chambeshi has provisionally summoned 30 players into residential camp prior to the team heading to Spain on April 23 before finally heading to South Korea.

Some foreign based players have been excluded, among them Fashion Sakala (Spartak Moscow), Patson Daka (FC Liefering), Mwape Mumba (Getafe) and Enock Mwepu who is in Austria sorting out a possible move to Europe.

The team will be holed up in Spain until they head to South Korea with a number of practice matches in the pipeline.

Chambeshi will carry 21 players for the final tournament in South Korea.

Zambia is in Group C alongside Portugal, Costa Rica and Iran and will be based on the Island of Jeju.

The opening fixture will be against Portugal on May 21, 2017 at the 29, 346 capacity Jeju World Cup stadium, with the second fixture happening three days later against Iran before concluding their group matches with a tie against Costa Rica at Cheonan Sports Complex on May 29, 2017.
