Wada weighs in on Cosafa player puzzle

Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda says the 2017 Cosafa Castle Cup will add pressure on available local players for him given the African Nations Championship campaign on the cards.

And recalled Jonas Sakuwaha says he will work hard to ensure that his come back to the national fold is not a one off occurrence.

Meanwhile Red Arrows beat the national team 2-1 in a practice match played at Nkoloma Stadium this morning.

Speaking to after the Chipolopolo broke camp, Nyirenda said that he may be forced to field a second string side for the Cosafa that is scheduled from June 25 to July 9 as the bulk of his key local players will be doing duty for their respective clubs on the continental front.

Nyirenda who has been building a squad for the CHAN campaign and also looking at the Africa Cup journey ahead said that Zanaco and Zesco United players will be deep in CAF duty around the Cosafa Castle Cup tournament.

The two clubs have contributed 12 players to the fold while the injured Jackson Mwanza and Toaster Nsabata who were not part of this camp take the total number to 14.

And Sakuwaha who stars for league side Buildcon said he was working hard to win over national team selectors.

Meanwhile in the practice match Red Arrows edged the Chipolopolo with goals from Francis Kombe and a Billy Mutale own goal.
