Zambia and Senegal Carry African Hopes in Round of 16

Zambia will face Germany in the round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup on Wednesday at the Jeju World Cup Stadium.

The African champions will face the Germans who finished third in their group with a quarter final place at stake.

Germany lost 2-0 to Venezuela before drawing 0-all with Mexico and closed with a 3-2 win over minnows Vanuatu to qualify as one of the best third placed teams.

Zambia has never gone beyond the second round of this tournament and will be hoping to better their record against the Germans.

Beston Chambeshi’s side qualified as Group C winners having seen off two-time champions Portugal 2-1 before sweeping aside Iran 4-2 and wound up with a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica.

The African kings are back in Jeju which has become their home after having played their first two fixtures there.

Zambia played its third match in Cheonan.
