Zambia Women lose in Harare

The Zambia Senior Women's National Football Team lost 1-0 to Zimbabwe in the second round, first leg of the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualification match played at Rufaro Stadium on Wednesday.

Kudakwashe Basopo was perhaps in an offside position as she chipped the ball over goalkeeper Hazel Nali on 45 minutes to give Zimbabwe's Mighty Warriors slender advantage going into the second leg scheduled for Nkoloma Stadium on Sunday.

"We may have have lost by a slender margin today and safe to say we are down but not out," said assistant coach Kape Saili.

"The girls gave their all, played their lungs out, at the end of the day that is football. However, congratulations to our goalkeeper Hazel Nali for being voted player of the match in today's game."

Zambia will need to score twice without conceding in the second leg at Nkoloma Stadium in order to dispatch Zimbabwe and qualify for the 12th edition of the Africa Women Cup of Nations final tournament to be hosted by Cameroon in November.
