The Football Association of Zambia has clinched an international friendly with Tanzania that will be played over the weekend during the FIFA international window.
Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda has summoned 28 players for the Tanzania match that includes 2012 Africa Cup golden boot winner Emmanuel Mayuka, who is on the books of Zamalek and Mamelodi Sundowns goalie Kennedy Mweene.
Nyirenda will use the game as part of his preparations for the African Nations Championship against Swaziland in July and also have one eye on the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique in June.
The Chipolopolo trainer told Fazfootball.com that the team regroups in Lusaka on Monday evening.
FIFA has on its calendar a window for international friendly matches that cover the period March 20-28.
Zambia will face Tanzania on Friday in Dare salaam with another match tentatively set for Sunday.
“Most of the players are locals, the only professionals that we have added to the list are Kennedy Mweene and Mayuka,” he said.
“It has been a long time he has been with us (Mayuka), he is playing well he has been doing well for Zamalek. We want to see how he can play and fit in with our philosophy.”
On Mweene Nyirenda said, “With Mweene I need to see him because he has not been playing most games there. He played last weekend and did very well all we need is see that is keeping shape. “
