First National Bank (FNB) Zambia has held a business investment advice workshop for the U-20 national team.
During the workshop, FNB Head of Marketing Clotilda Mulenga counselled the lads that with success comes greater responsibility.
Mulenga urged the lads to learn from examples of stars that had fallen from grace after having got to the top of the game.
“Success is not just about how well you play football, but how you manage your life. It is not just about the ability on the pitch or team success but how you manage your resources,” Mulenga said.
She also advised them to handle fame properly and learn from examples of fallen stars like golf idol Tiger Woods.
“Who does not know the story of Tiger Woods? That is an example of not managing a brand a brand properly. We have many examples even in this country,” she said.
And FAZ General Secretary Ponga Liwewe reminded the players that a footballer’s career had a short span hence the need to plan for the future.
“It is very important for you young players to look after your resources well that is why we have this investment advice,” Liwewe said.
During the interactive session the players opened up on the challenges they face with managing resources.
Others that tipped the lads were FNB Consumer Educator and Brand Communications Specialist Sakubita Kalembwe and Luke Mbewe respectively with Product Specialist Patrick Nakalonga also rendering counsel.
FNB are the official sponsors of the South Korea bound U-20 team.
